Aortic & Carotid Ultrasound Examinations

Ultrasound is also used to examine the carotid arteries for stenosis (narrowing) and estimated severity. This is done in combination with Doppler color flow recording. Test is absolutely safe and is essentially performed with some gel and a probe being applied to the carotid arteries in the neck. No preparation is required and the results are available within 24 hours to your referring doctor.

Aortic ultrasound is done to detect the presence of abdominal aortic aneurysms and measure their size. This is done with an ultrasound probe and a little gel on the anterior abdominal wall.
